In order to master modern drawing techniques at home, you need to prepare a spacious table, cover it with thick paper or polyethylene. You need to work in a well-ventilated area.

Materials and tools for painting with acrylic:

  1. The highest quality drawings are obtained using acrylic paints. For training, you can buy cheap paints, there is not a large selection of colors and shades, they contain little pigment, which leads to increased consumption. If you plan to paint a real picture, get an expensive set, it guarantees a rich palette, high-quality pigments, deep color. You can try to use a building color by adding a special medium.
  2. To create a pattern, it is necessary to prepare a waterproof surface – ceramic tiles, porcelain stoneware, plastic, special paper. After drying, the paper bends, the drawing must be put in a frame under glass. You can use canvas, plywood, MDF, chipboard or wood, pre-coated with acrylic primer.
  3. Fluid art paints must have the correct consistency. Water cannot be used, it reduces the strength of the acrylic-base bond. Pure PVA glue negatively affects the brightness of the paint, the picture turns out to be pale, dull. A special conditioner for acrylic provides the necessary plasticity and fluidity, does not affect the color, and prevents cracks during drying. Thanks to the conditioner, acrylic is securely held on the surface. To reduce the cost, you can make a mixture of air conditioner, water and PVA, but this requires experience.
  4. Silicone is needed to create a characteristic pattern, rounded cells.
  5. The medium improves the fluidity of acrylic, allows you to create patterns from oblong lines. On sale there is a medium with silicone.
  6. Finishing material – varnish or epoxy resin.
  7. Containers for the preparation of acrylic, it is most convenient to use disposable cups of different sizes.
  8. Wooden spatulas or disposable plastic knives for mixing acrylic.
  9. Measuring cup or scales.
  10. Pipette for adding water or creating a pattern.
  11. Spatula or spatula for spreading acrylic over the surface.
  12. Construction or household hair dryer.
  13. Level.

After you master acrylic painting, try using metal powder, rhinestones, small beads for decoration. The drawing process is quite dirty, clothes must be protected with an apron, disposable gloves must be worn.

Fluid Art Drawing Techniques

Before you start drawing, level the tablet with a level. If you want to protect some part of the tablet from getting paint, cover it with masking tape. Choose acrylic, preferably black, white or metallic for the base, and a few paints to create the pattern.

Liquid acrylic techniques for beginner artists:

  • PuddlePour or puddle filling. Prepare all the colors in separate cups, pour the base color acrylic, try to create an even spot. Pour the next color into the center of the stain, then another. You can make a drawing from several spots, rotate the tablet so that the acrylic spreads over the surface.
  • DirtyPour or dirty pouring is mixing all the colors in one container, pouring onto the base in one motion. By tilting the tablet in different directions, spread the acrylic over the surface.
  • FlipCup or an inverted glass differs from the previous method in that paints are poured into a common glass in layers without mixing. After that, the tablet must be placed face down on the glass, turn it over, wait until all the acrylic is on the base. Form a pattern by tilting the tablet at different angles or slowly rotating it.

Acrylic drawing hardens in a few days, it is necessary to store the picture in a clean room with a constant temperature, covered with a box. Make sure the painting is on a flat surface. After a few days, a top coat of varnish or epoxy can be applied.
